Appropriately, given the heatwave currently gripping the UK, it was a cooling product that was voted the Most Desirable by visitors to the recent Mobility Roadshow event in Telford.

The Poolpod “ a swimming pool platform lift developed in association with the Olympic Delivery Authority and the London Marathon Trust “ scooped the accolade at the West Midlands event, beating the Morph folding wheel and the HandSteady cup into joint second place.

The lift has already wowed visitors to Mile End Leisure Centre, just over four miles from the Olympic Park itself. Visitors to the Mobility Roadshow were similarly impressed, repeatedly placing the PoolPod on the handily titled Cool Wall in the roadshows Design Zone.

The Design Zone proved a huge hit with visitors to the roadshow, and was an area that the Mobility Roadshows organisers were keen to promote in the run up to the roadshows 30th anniversary event;

œWe are delighted to see the response to our design focus increasing year on year, both from those seeking feedback on ideas for inclusive products and, importantly, providing a platform for people with disabilities to raise their share of voice, said Jacqui Jones, Mobility Choices chief executive.

œWe shall continue to maintain pressure on manufacturers to raise their game when it comes to functionality and design.
