Oakdale is a family-run business based in Shropshire. The company promotes adjustable beds at exhibitions and direct to homes throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.
All of Oakdale’s adjustable beds are equipped with Visco Elastic Memory foam mattresses, which are based on a material used by the United States Space Agency. Each of the mattresses incorporates a five-point massage unit, which serves either a full sensual body massage or a concentrated massage on one of five specific areas of the body. The unit’s “rolling wave” action helps reduce aches and pains while inducing a restful sleep. It also offers varying levels of intensity and automatic shutdown.
According to Oakdale, “the optimum position for sleeping is with your head and feet both slightly raised so that the tips of your toes are level wit the tip of your nose. This helps relieve the tension from your lower back and greatly improves blood circulation around your whole body”. Based on this observation, each of the company’s adjustable beds has a five-lever adjustable frame. It allows the user to sit up in bed to read and helps him or her get up and out of bed in the morning.
Oakdale Product Range.
Oakdale currently provides the following types of adjustable beds -- Premier, Premier Extra, Premier SV, Belgravia, Chalfont, Romance, and Henley. The Premier, Premier Extra and Premier SV Adjustable Beds are 2 metres long and available in five different widths: single (77 centimetres and 92 centimetres), double (138 centimetres), king (153 centimetres) and super king (183 centimetres). While the Premier Extra is specially designed to accommodate two drawers that provide excellent storage, the Premier SV offers both headboard and footboard.
The Belgravia, Chalfont, Romance and Henley Adjustable Beds all come with a range of matching bedroom furniture, including wardrobes, chests, boxes, mirrors, dressing tables and stools, and chairs. These pieces are provided by Frank Hudson, a British designer and producer of classic furniture for more than 50 years.
The Belgravia Adjustable Bed is handmade and comes in a French polished finish. While the bed is 2.3 metres long and available in two widths -- 193 centimetres and 163 centimetres -- it can be designed to one’s specification in terms of adjustability and massage.
The Chalfont Adjustable Bed is approximately 2.2 metres long and available in three widths -- 193 centimetres, 163 centimetres and 151 centimetres. Made from solid oak and oak veneers, the bed is equipped with panelled headboard and footboard.
The Romance Adjustable Bed is made in mahogany. Both of its headboard and footboard are hand carved, enabling the bed to be teamed with the Louis XV range of cabinets. The bed is 2 metres long and available in two widths -- 206 centimetres and 176 centimetres.
Finally, the Henley Adjustable Bed is made from oak and oak veneers. While it is approximately 2.2 metres long and available in 3 widths -- 193 centimetres, 163 centimetres and 151 centimetres -- the bed can be designed to one’s specification in terms of adjustability and massage.
